Steam Contact Drying the main uses for cylinders/cans are pre-drying before stentering and transitional drying rather than final drying. Steam heated cylinders are used to circulate fabric or drying material as pressures range from 35 to 65 psi. While cylinders can be used to dry down a variety of materials, the finish they produce is similar to that of an iron, making them inappropriate for situations in which a surface effect is present or desired. In stenters, a number of holding clips or pins attached on two unending chains stretch the fabric widthwise for width fixing.

Steam cylinders frequently have issues like leakage at vacuum breakers, air vents, rotating joints and steam traps. This is a direct result of the heating system’s architecture, which depends on spinning joints to transport steam and condensate into and out of each cylinder. The risk of leaking increases significantly when there are up to 32 of these cylinders in a single bank. Starting a proper maintenance regimen is crucial, for this reason.
